Landini innovations at EIMA 2008
Landini’s constant desire for innovation has produced an increasingly more advanced range of machines with new engines, modern looks and technological features of the very highest level. But that’s not all. Landini is watching out for the future of the agricultural sector with the utmost attention, studying the priorities and the need for machinery, and responding to the farmers’ requirements by introducing new models or tailor-made versions.
The result is an increasingly more comprehensive, up to date and accessorized range, presented at Eima 2008 as the concrete answer to a constantly evolving farming world that’s extremely diversified, one in which groundbreaking, efficient and reliable machines are a must in all power brackets.
The new Powermondial tractor represents Landini’s state-of-the art in the 90 to 110 HP medium-power segment.
With three models, Powermondial 100, 110 and 115, the new series has been designed to provide the very highest performance in the open field, both for light jobs like sowing and for heavy duty use like ploughing.
Powermondial features a 41 kg/HP weight/power ratio and therefore limits the extent to which the soil is packed down. The engines are the new 93, 102 and 110 HP Perkins 1104D series 4-cylinder turbo aftercooler type which, besides providing exceptional power and torque, also comply with the TIER 3 standards governing gas emissions.
The new range stands out for its new transmissions, equipped with epicyclic final drives, new electronic and mechanical power lifts with draft sensors on the lower links, a new cab and bonnet that reflect the family feeling of the larger PowerMax and PowerMaster models.
As is usual for Landini, both the Techno and Top versions are offered. This latter has a cab with an automatic air conditioning system, electronic power lift and transmission with electronically controlled hydraulic reverse shuttle plus the new T-TRONIC gearbox with 3 powershift speed gears, Hi-Medium-Low, in conjunction with the basic 12-speed gearbox (Speed Four), which offers 48 FWD + 16 REV speeds when fitted with the creeper. The De-Clutch function allows the operator to shift the mechanical gears with the button on the lever, without having to depress the clutch pedal.
The basic Techno version is equipped with an air conditioning system, a mechanical power lift with draft on the lower links and a transmission with mechanical reverse shuttle and 5 mechanical speed gears (Speed Five) for 20 FWD + 20 REV speeds when the creeper is installed.
The electrohydraulically controlled power take-off is common to both the Techno and Top versions and is available with various different speed combinations, i.e. 540/750, 540/1000 or 540/750/1000 Option, for an even more versatile use of the tractor.
The new power lift features a 5650 kg lifting capacity that’s suited to PowerMondial’s power bracket, plus a versatile hydraulic circuit with 6 outlets in the basic version and 10 as an optional. The control valves are operated with a joystick, for the utmost ease of use for the operator.
Lastly, the 4-pillar Master Class cab provides Powermondial with exceptional all-round visibility, also thanks to the generously sized doors hinged to the rear pillar. The automatic air conditioning system installed in the TOP version has a digital display and temperature presetting function, while the standard transparent roof window provides excellent visibility during work with front loaders.
Symbol of a production concept that’s strictly “Made in Italy”, Powermondial was designed in Italy and is completely manufactured there. The transmissions are made in the Fabbrico plant, while the whole tractors are assembled in the Argo Tractors plant of Luzzara, where the Vision and REX assembly lines are also located.
Mistral, a completely new range
The excellent image acquired by the Mistral Series encouraged the Marketing Management to keep the name and repeat the success achieved with the new Series as well.
Mistral has been subjected to an important restyling process, the intention being to improve the design, make the cockpit more comfortable and optimize the performance thanks to the new Tier 3 engines used.
Thus Mistral has been given a completely new look, with a tilting bonnet and a profile true to the new Landini Family Feeling for utility and specialistic machines. The bonnet has been designed to combine an attractive appearance with ease of reaching the engine components that require routine maintenance.
The cockpit is also new, with a layout whereby the controls have all been arranged in accordance with the most modern ergonometric standards. Thus the operator will find it very comfortable to work with both the footstep and cab versions.
Designed as a true synthesis of technology, the Mistral Series comprises models 40-45-50-55 and is equipped with 35 to 54 HP 3 and 3-cylinder Yanmar engines.
Model 55 has a turbo engine and external EGR as required by Tier 3 standards, and represents the state-of-the-art of this particular power segment as to reliability and performance.
The range also features a rational and ergonomic gearbox with a fully synchronized reverse shuttle and a new hydraulic power lift with draft, position control and intermix plus 1200 kg lifting capacity.
But Mistral’s vocation remains the same, as it’s still a range designed for users who need a compact and easily handled utility tractor, ideal when space is at a premium, in greenhouses and between crop rows where all its versatility comes to the fore.
LandPower, make way for the Comfort version
Well known as being extremely reliable, for its tip-top performance and a look that reflects the Hi-Tech PowerMaster and PowerMax bracket, the LandPower series has acquired a new version called Comfort.
The LandPower range is available in the following versions:
- Techno: equipped with a fully mechanical transmission
- Top-Tronic: with three speeds on load, hydraulic reverse shuttle and electronic power lift.
- Comfort: Sports a hydraulic reverse shuttle, 3 speeds on load and De-Clutch as compared to the mechanical reverse shuttle and Hi-Lo of the previous TOP version, which it replaces.
The three versions offer a wide variety of specifications that make the LandPower family the right balance amongst innovation, reliability and comfort.
Powermaster, the range gets bigger
The Powermaster series has been enlarged, thus increasing the ways in which the tractors can be employed by an increasingly greater number of end users.
Important reference point in the high-power bracket of the open field tractor sector, the Powermaster family now includes the new “Techno” version which, although maintaining the same transmission specifications and field performance as the “Top” version, includes features that optimize the quality/price ratio.
The standard PowerMaster Techno version has a conventional 4WD front axle, 3 lever-controlled spool valves and standard rear hub flanging instead of bar axles.
Both the Top and Techno versions are offered with the 8-speed gear Powershift transmission for a total 32 forward and 24 reverse speeds.
Thanks to the robotized Speed Sequencer system, range shifting is electronically controlled and the operator is able to select the 32 speeds in the sequential mode by using the button on the joystick.
Normally used for transport purposes, the Auto-Powershift allows the operator to use the accelerator pedal and leave gear control to the Auto-Powershift function. This, thanks to dedicated software, selects the most suitable gear and shifts on load according to the following parameters: speed, tractor/trailer load and engine rate. The operator need not bother with continuous gear changes and can therefore dedicate his attention to driving.
Alpine Series: new Tier 3 engines
The Alpine series, which is one of Landini's most comprehensive tractor ranges, has evolved and now features new engines and pioneering specifications.
All the Alpine Standard and GT models, in the aspirated and turbo versions, are equipped with the new series of Tier 3 4-cylinder Yanmar engines with external EGR and electronic control of the accelerator/injection pump.
When it comes to torque reserve and fuel consumption, the performance provided by the new 71, 78 and 83 HP 4TNV98 engines is better than other engines with a similar swept volume.
The 70-80 and 85 models of the Alpine Series feature re-vamped cab interiors. The accelerator pedal has been re-positioned, there’s a new roof with new air vents plus a new generation A/C and heating system that makes the cab much more comfortable and functional.
The hydraulic circuit has also been upgraded. The capacity of the hydraulic pump has been increased to 57 l/min and up to 4 rear control valves can be installed, with a flow divider in the basic machine. The power lift can also be operated from the ground with the control on the right-hand mudguard - STD version - available as an optional.
