Landini Rex and Powerfarm: renewed ranges (even more reliable, modern and efficient) for low regulated countries

The Landini REX specialist range and the Landini Powerfarm cab utility range have been upgraded to provide even better performance. By developing tractors that have already been extensively tested and are best sellers in many international markets, the Italian industrial group (a leader in agricultural mechanisation) has brought several significant innovations to the ranges, capable of guaranteeing new functionality and technological avant-garde, without neglecting the aesthetic aspect, indeed, further improving the design.

Reliability and simplicity are the keywords of the new REX range, intended exclusively for LRC markets and available in two versions: cab and platform. And it is precisely this latter option that comes with the greatest novelties. In fact, thanks to the introduction of the monolithic, single-structure platform, with lowered footboards, it can offer a compact design and state of the art aesthetics that highlights the 100% made in Italy style.

REX

The platform, suspended on the transmission, provides the undoubted advantage of higher comfort and higher thermal and vibration insulation of the operator’s work surface, significantly improving environmental conditions. In the GE (Ground Effect) version, designed to work easily under the canopy, the position of the fenders is further lowered.

The driver’s seat and controls are completely aligned with the steering wheel, shadowed by the bodywork and adjustable fenders, so there are no exposed elements outside the tractor and this facilitates manoeuvrability. Manoeuvrability and ease of use are also guaranteed by the new solutions adopted on the cab. This has been designed in automotive style and is equipped with air conditioning and active carbon filters for phytosanitary treatments. The gear and range controls, which are plugged directly into the gearbox, are ergonomically designed and particularly appreciated because they are fully protected from environment conditions.

Different configurations are available for the transmission: mechanical and Hi-Lo, with the possibility of hydraulic reverse power shuttle. Available mechanics include 12+12 and 16+16 versions with creeper, while Hi-Lo versions are 24+24 and 32+32 with creeper. The transmissions are characterised by versatility and flexibility in the range from 1.4 to 38.9 km/h, adapting to a multitude of specialised operations and in particular, the creeper option allows very low speeds, up to 310 metres per hour, to increase the versatility of work in the field.

The rigid front axle, 100% made by Argo Tractors, features electro-hydraulic four-wheel drive (4wd) engagement and a steering angle of 55°. Optional are the 100% locking with Hydralock system with brakes and the Limited Slip with oil cooled engagement.

The power take-off can provide two different speeds: 540/540E or 540/1000 rpm. With mechanical engagement in the version with mechanical transmission or with electro-hydraulic engagement in the case of hydraulic transmission thanks to simple and intuitive levers in the cab.

As far as hydraulics are concerned – with capacities from 52+30 up to 60+30 and mechanical hitch with a capacity of up to 3400 kg on the GT versions – the new REX range main features are the double pump and the oil cooler fitted as standard.

High configurability also in the choice of tyres, with the possibility of fitting 30” tyres on GT versions.

The Perkins 1104D 4-cylinder Tier 3-compliant engine is unchanged from the previous series, with maximum power ranging from 74 to 110 hp featuring turbo after-cooler on models 100-110-120.

Maximum reliability and ease of use combine perfectly with ease of maintenance. This is another plus that Argo Tractors has been able to achieve on the tractors of the renewed series. In fact, thanks to the solutions adopted, it is possible to have immediate access to all the elements of the engine (to the fuse boxes in the central console and to the control unit). This allows the operator to intervene independently and promptly for periodic and extraordinary maintenance as well as adjust the controls, thus giving continuity to the work.

Again with a view to maintenance, the harness is easily accessible as it is mounted externally to the platform, and the arrangement of the platform itself (monolithic but with a removable tunnel) is particularly effective.

Richer in features and with a more European design: this is how the new Landini Powerfarm range, the other novelty from Argo Tractors, is characterised, aimed exclusively at low-regulated-countries markets.

Powerfarm

The Tier3 Perkins 1104D 4.4 L turbo aftercooled engine is unchanged from the previous series, with power ranging from 93 to 110 hp for the three models 100, 110 and 120. While significant innovations have been introduced in the field of transmissions, which are available in various configurations and also with hydraulic reverse shuttle, as well as an optional 60 litre hydraulic capacity and a completely new look for the cab.

The strong point of the series is the transmission, available in the basic 12+12 speed version (at 40 km/h) or 16+16 (with Creeper), in Syncro Shuttle and 12+12 Power Shuttle (oil cooled clutch). Also available as an option are versions with a three powershift combined hydraulic reverse shuttle (H-M-L) that triple the gears of the basic transmission, providing a total of 36 forward and 12 reverse gears and 48+16 with HML and Creeper.

The fuel tank capacity reaches 120 litres, while the hydraulic capacity that assists the rear hitch and spool valves of 52 litres (basic) acquires as a novelty the option to 60 litres. The pump dedicated to steering offers a good 30 l/m.

The rear hitch capacity is increased to a maximum of 4500 kilograms (with two additional cylinders) with electronic hitch control available as an option.

As standard, it is prepared for the Landini L20 front loader, thus meeting the specific needs of the markets.

The independent power take-off provides 540/540E rpm or optional 540/1000 with servo-assisted (Synchro Shuttle) or oil cooled engagement (Power Shuttle). The main distinguishing features of the new range are the electro-hydraulic four-wheel drive (4wd) engagement and the hydraulic trailer braking system, the latter one as an option.

Particular care has been put into the design, starting with the hood, which takes on a more modern look. Compared to the previous series, the cab, which features a European style, is completely renewed with particular attention given to the total space, to the ergonomics of the driver’s seat, to the controls and to the total visibility provided by the 4 pillars structure.
